Marvel's "Fresh" Start

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

I've been a fan of Marvel since I first started collecting, and always will be, but come on another relaunch. I mean they just did Marvel Legacy like 7 months ago. I wish they would just stick with something. DC has been successful with Rebirth, yet Marvel keeps relaunching what seems like every 6-8 months. For a long time Marvel fan it's hard for me to understand. They put out consistently good books like Slott's Spider-Man and Aaron's Thor, but honestly I can't really get behind anything else.

I want to like this new initiative they're doing because I love the characters, but I'm worried that it's gonna be another relaunch in a few months. I'm looking forward to a lot of the books they announced, like Spider-Man by Spencer & Ottley, Aaron's Avengers, Deadpool by Skottie Young, Captain America by Coates, and obviously continuing Thor by Aaron. More importantly they are finally bring back the Fantastic Four in August. I also think it's about time that they get the X-Men back on track, bring back the original Wolverine and Uncanny X-men already.

I hope they give this relaunch a chance to succeed. The books that will be coming out already look better than most of the books they've been putting out over the last few years. I would love to have more than 2 Marvel books on my pull list. In my opinion, they should stop doing all these line wide crossovers (event books) and just focus on the individual titles. I feel like they put more energy into their movies, which don't get me wrong I love, and not enough into the source material. Stop teasing us with the Peter and MJ marriage and bring it back already. What they've done with Fantastic Four and X-Men because they didn't own the film rights is absolutely ridiculous. Who cares who has the film rights, give the fans good quality books with characters they love and the books will sell.

Marvel has a chance to bring a lot of fans back if they just listen to us. As much as I dislike all the relaunches, I can't wait check out these new books. I haven't been this excited about Marvel in a long time. It's time for them to follow in DC's path and put out great books by great creative teams. When both companies are doing good, it's good for the whole comic book industry. Hopefully this is the beginning of a renaissance for the industry and will insure that all of us fans can continue to read about our favorite characters for decades to come.
