What Are You Waiting For DC, Bring Back Young Justice Already

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

I remember it like it was yesterday, I was 11 years old and I saw the first issue of Young Justice at my local comic shop. I couldn't believe it, 3 of my favorite characters (Robin, Superboy, and Impulse) were in a book together. It instantly became one of my favorite books. I collected the entire series including all the specials. Along the way they introduced other team members including, Wonder Girl, Arrowette, Secret, and Empress. Eventually the team got older and graduated to the Teen Titans, Empress and Secret disappeared and Arrowette had been retired. The Teen Titan series was a great next step for the young heroes. Robin, Superboy, Wonder Girl and Impulse now Kid Flash became an even better team. Fast forward to the New 52, after Flashpoint, and they became unrecognizable, new versions of my favorite characters that didn't even resemble who they once were. I gave the new Teen Titans book a chance but eventually dropped it because I just couldn't deal with all the changes made to these beloved characters.

A couple years ago DC did their Rebirth initiative, they had restored a lot of pre-Flashpoint histories. One thing was they brought Tim Drake (Robin) back much closer to the Tim I grew up reading. Still though, there was no mention of Connor (Superboy) or Bart (Impulse/Kid Flash). They did bring the Titans of Tomorrow, future evil versions of the Teen Titans from Geoff Johns run, in a Superman/Super Sons story arc. So with that tease, I thought for sure Connor and Bart were coming back. Yet after that story still no mention of them and not even a hint of Cassie (Wonder Girl). Finally, in the final issue of Flash War that came out a couple months ago we see that Bart is back. I'm patiently waiting for Connor and Cassie to return, and hopefully DC has plans because there are fans out there that are eagerly awaiting there return.

DC announced a little while back that the Young Justice cartoon is coming back for a third season. Even though the cartoon differs from the comic, DC has a good opportunity to to bring back this title and bring fans of the show to pick up the book. So what is DC waiting for, this team of heroes could fill a void that has been sorely missing from their line of comics. Bring back Young Justice, a team book that's about more than just fighting crime, it's about family and the bond they share, not to mention how funny the original one was and can be again. I guarantee the book would be successful, these characters have been sorely missed. Come on DC bring this team back and make countless fans scream out in joy, I know I would.
