RYAN'S PICKS

BUTCHER OF PARIS #1

I'm a sucker for anything that is based on true events, so when Stephanie Phillips said she was working on this book I knew I had to check it out. Having read the first issue already, I can say that this is a fantastic book that you should all check out.

Here's the solicit:

In 1944, as Swastikas flew over Paris, one of the most notorious and prolific serial killers in history turned the occupied city into his personal hunting ground. Under the guise of opportunity and freedom, a killer preys on those desperate to flee . . . until a gruesome discovery alerts the police. In a city on the brink of war, the hunt for a serial killer begins as a French detective races to catch the villain before the Nazis beat him to it. Written by Stephanie Phillips (Descendent, Devil Within) with art by Dean Kotz (Mars Attacks), The Butcher of Paris is a historical, true crime thriller about a killer wanted by both the Nazis and allied forces for the death of nearly two hundred victims.

20XX #1

This book was amazing! Seriously just trust me and make sure you pick this one up. You won't be disappointed. The art, story, everything about it is just amazing. YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!

Here's the solicit:

SERIES PREMIERE From JONATHAN LUNA (ALEX + ADA, GIRLS, THE SWORD) and LAUREN KEELY, in her writing debut, comes an all-new ongoing series! This sci-fi thriller for mature readers imagines a not-so-distant future-a world of norms and syms, divided by fear. Syms, a small percentage of the population with telekinetic abilities, form gangs to survive. But division only breeds more division, and Mer and Nuon experience this firsthand as they become entangled in the often dramatic, sometimes violent, but always complex social landscape of sym gang rivalries in Anchorage, Alaska.

YOUNG JUSTICE #11

My favorite team is finally bringing in Naomi!! After feeling a little disappointed last issue that she was only on the last page, I can't wait to see her full debut with the team. Come see why this is one of the most fun books being published at DC.

Here's the solicit:

Young Justice returns! Home! To Earth! Finally! Just in time to confront all of their big issues-like S.T.A.R. Labs! Moms and dads! Naomi! Jinny Hex's trunk! And yes, each other! This starts the wild wind-up to Wonder Comics' first year as the truth behind S.T.A.R. Labs and the reunion of Young Justice is revealed!

POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1

Younger Ryan, is literally jumping up for joy. This is the crossover I never knew I wanted but can't wait to read. This is probably one of the books I'm most excited for this week. I mean how could I not be. The POwer Rangers and the TEMNT are meeting. HELL YEAH!!!!!

Here's the solicit:

* THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS AND THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME! * The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver (a.k.a. The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger) but soon discover he's joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan! * As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they 're confronted by another (fr)enemy... the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?! * Written by Ryan Parrott (Power Rangers: Necessary Evil) and illustrated by Simone di Meo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Venom Annual), the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fight - and maybe team up with - the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first time.

DYLAN'S PICK

SPAWN #303

So let me ask you? What’s better than Spawn? How about 2 Spawns? What about 3 SPAWNS!? Yup. With She-Spawn finally finding Al Simmons, what could possibly be revealed in the wake of Nyx’s death?

Here’s the solicit:

Meanwhile, Clown’s Hellhounds have other plans, as theymove to stop Spawn from gathering his new army of heroes. JOIN THE HUNT!

RENEE'S PICKS

DIE #10

Following this story every month has been my greatest pleasure, I’m excited to see how the second arch rounds out with the party now fractured.

Here’s the solicit:

END OF STORY ARC

"SPLIT THE PARTY," Conclusion

Forget escaping DIE

KILL WHITEY DONAVAN #1

I just looooove a limited run indie murder mystery, truly it warms my buns. This story feels so complex just from the solicit and the art looks amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Here’s the solicit:

After Anna Hoyt's sister commits suicide, she sets off for Atlanta to kill the man responsible for destroying her family-her fiancé, Jim "Whitey" Donovan. But Anna, a spirited though pampered daughter of a prominent doctor, can't do it alone. To get through the hell that lies between her Alabama home and Atlanta, she makes a deal with one of the Donovan slaves, Hattie Virgil, who has an agenda of her own. In exchange for a chance at freedom, Hattie, a survivor, will lead this unlikely pair on a quest that will change them both forever.

ANNHILATION SCOURGE NOVA #1

I gotta say, I haven’t heard much buzz about this book nor do I know the characters but THAT’S OKAY, I love a good under the radar plot and story.

Here’s the solicit:

The universe hangs in peril! With no room for old grudges, Nova is forced to team up with one of his most nefarious adversaries - ANNIHILUS! But can Richard Rider trust the ruler of the Negative Zone to fight alongside him - or will this turn into a war with two fronts?

TREVOR'S PICKS

SUPERMAN UP IN THE SKY #6

The final issue of Tom King's mini series with the man of steel is here! It's been a very emotional ride which I expected nothing less from King. Can't wait to see the conclusion of how Clark will save this girl who he has chased across the stars to save.

Here's the solicit:

Available to comics shops for the first time! It's the finale of Tom King and Andy Kubert's Man of Steel epic and Superman is captured off-planet, with Earth's remaining heroes left to fend off an alien robot invasion! If Superman can break his bonds and rise up against the diabolical mastermind who unleased the attack, he can save his adopted home, even from several galaxies away, and begin the long journey back with the little girl from Metropolis whose kidnapping initially sent him on this epic sojourn through the cosmos. Originally published in Superman Giant #15 and #16.

RED SONJA #11

This arc has been building at a steady pace. Now, with only one issue to after this, I am curious to see how Red Sonja will take down a larger army than her own with their backs to the wall.

Here's the solicit:

The penultimate chapter in Mark Russell's first year of Red Sonja. Dragan The Magnificent's complete victory is assured, save for one She-Devil, incapable of dying, unwilling to cede control of a bridge...
