The Comic Lounge's Picks of the Week (12/11)

This is it guys!! The issue where Superman reveals his identity to the world. This is what Bendis has been leading up to since he took over the Superman line. Get ready for one of the most talked about and important moment in the Man of Steel's life.

Here's the solicit:

With Superman's family scattered across the galaxy, our hero must confront some of his greatest concerns about himself and his place in the galaxy. Legendary artist Ivan Reis joins writer Brian Michael Bendis as they introduce the biggest change in the Man of Steel's life ever!

The action continues in this awesome storyline. How will Flash save the city when he can't use the Speed Force. Williamson continues his epic run as we near the landmark 750th issue

Here's the solicit:

"Rogues' Reign" part three! The Speed Force is out of control, but the Flash must learn to harness it again if he's to stand a chance against the powered-up Rogues! With the freshly crowned King Cold leading the charge to hunt the speedster down, all hope seems lost...or is it? An unexpected ally and the save of a lifetime comes to our hero in the form of one of Cold's oldest and most trusted friends-is this icy betrayal what the scarlet speedster needs to turn the tide and set the world right?

New Joe Hill?? And it's a crime book, sign me up. This issue was fantastic and I highly recommend it to all you fans of the crime genre. Joe Hill & Co. knocked this one out of the park.

Here's the solicit:

The debut of an all-new creation by Joe Hill (Locke & Key) and Martin Simmonds (Punks Not Dead)! Meet Syd "Sh*t-Talk" Homes, a disgraced ex-cop turned bitter stand-up comic turned... possible felon?! In part 1 of Dying is Easy, Carl Dixon is on the verge of comedy superstardom and he got there the dirty way: by stealing jokes. He's got a killer act, an ugly past, and more enemies than punch-lines. So when someone asks Syd Homes how much it would cost to have Dixon killed, Syd isn't surprised in the slightest. He's already got a figure in mind...

Holy shit!! This was such a great issue. All of you Turtle fans are in for a treat when you read this issue. This is what the last 50 issue have been building towards and you wont be disappointed.

Here's the solicit:

Things have never been worse for the TMNT and their allies, but there's still one desperate gambit to try if the family can come together in time. Will it be worth the cost? Over eight years of TMNT storytelling have led to this game-changing moment! Don't miss it!

The last Dark Multiverse one shot is here. The original Judas Contract storyline is one of my favorite DC stories, so I'm excited to see what new spin they're gonna take with this one. All of these Dark Multiverse stories have been so much fun to read, I'm really gonna miss them.

Here's the solicit:

The Dark Multiverse reimagines one of the most renowned stories in comic book history, "The Judas Contract"! In this shocking tale, Terra's betrayal starts not with the Teen Titans, but with Deathstroke himself! Now, free from her mentor's influence and supercharged by the same serum that turned Slade Wilson into the world's deadliest man, Tara Markov will forge a new destiny, written in the Teen Titans' blood.

I’m excited for the concept of this title, although horror isn’t my scene generally, I’m looking forward to the art work to accompany the story

Here’s the solicit:

* Jeremy Haun returns to his The Beauty roots as he teams with Danny Luckert, hot off Regression, for a new psychological horror series.

* After losing her eye and the man she loves in a brutal mugging, Daisy McDonough is left trying to put the pieces of her life back together. Just when she begins to think she can heal- move on, she begins to see strange things through her new prosthetic eye. And The Red Mother sees her in return.

* Continuing BOOM! Studios' string of successes, The Red Mother follows Faithless, Once & Future, and Something is Killing the Children for a new original series that examines the dangers that hide in plain sight - and the consequences of digging beneath the surface to find the truth underneath.

So close to the end of this! I wanna see what all this is happening for, too limited of a series of you ask me

Here’s the solicit:

Stranded on another world, beaten and broken on every front, the survivors must band together to search for a ray of hope. But when their only chance at survival comes from the most dangerous place in this reality, will they be able to risk everything to escape the coming onslaught?

The first issue was so fun and colorful and full of personality and I can’t wait to see the adventure BB and her friend Chulita embark on

Here’s the solicit:

After discovering that everything her father ever told her is a lie, b.b. is on the run to the only person she can trust, her radio show partner, Chulita. But with b.b.'s mysterious powers getting stronger everyday, and her father's power organization on her trail, b.b. won't find the safe haven she expects... and she may be putting her only friend in danger.

Image Comics' new all-star book is back with a second insane issue. How does the team stay alive in America's borders as the clock ticks on the dying world outside? Not one to miss!

Here's the solicit:

As the team goes on the run from the deadly Destiny Man, the focus shifts to Charlotte’s brother, Daniel. Until this expedition, he was the only person on Earth to successfully infiltrate the black box that is the United States. What secrets did Daniel learn that might keep the team alive, and what did they cost him?

Every issue of Immortal Hulk has been GOOD. AS. HELL. Al Ewing is writing a modern classic with this run and I will not stop recommending it to people. The Teen Brigade is back and they're backing Hulk in his world-shattering quest!

Here's the solicit:

Are your children normal? Are they respectful of you and other approved authority figures? Do they have a poster of the Punisher on their wall? Or are they angry and discourteous? Do they embrace difficult and/or dangerous concepts, such as protest and the environment? Do they stand with the Hulk? Ask yourself: Are your children normal... or have they joined the TEEN BRIGADE?

Who doesn't love Beta Ray Bill?? Annihilation-Scourge pushes on in full force with writer Michael Moreci's first foray into the Marvel universe! Can't go wrong with this talented writer and Marvel sci-fi insanity!!

Here's the solicit: The Scourge has arrived! As the local population becomes infected, will Beta Ray Bill be able to fight back the horde and save the innocents—or are they already lost? Overwhelmed, will Bill himself fall victim to the Annihilation wave?!

Like the tide, it was only a matter of time before Ocean Daddy returned. The brother of Aquaman had pretty good fresh start after New 52, with a whole family and everything. Then he messed that one up when he betrayed Mera in her mini-series. When the Drowned Earth event made it’s splash, Orm made a noble sacrifice to save Mera and giving the heroes a strong ally to fight back. I started to wonder if this was an intentional pattern of redemption and betrayal for Orm. This issue has me on the edge of my boat to see what the Ocean Master chooses to do next.

Here's the solicit:

Orm Marius lost nearly everything following the events of "Drowned Earth"-his crown, his love, and his freedom. Now, in the battle between justice and doom, Ocean Master struggles to find his place. But don't count him out just yet-Ocean Master is about to prove exactly what makes him the true king of the seven seas when he discovers a new power that will change the tide forever!

It hasn’t been long since the first issue of X-Force really caught me off guard with it’s high stakes, action packed feeling of awesomeness in its first issue. With Quentin making his return following the attack on Krakoa, and now teamed up with Wolverine, I am even more excited to see what these two have to face off against.

Here's the solicit:

THE BEST DEFENSE... TARGET: ALL ENEMIES OF MUTANTKIND! First, the new team strikes back against the humans who took one of their own. Then, with its orders established, the new X-Force hits the ground running, taking on deadly threats targeting mutantkind's rightful place in the world...

Absurd. Silly. Funny. And Bloody. The Warrior and Battle Pug has been a total surprise and just plain fun. Need a break from the “too serious” tones of a lot of comics today? Battlepug provides.

Here’s the solicit:

The Queen of the Northland Elves has a plan to rule all realms, and it looks like she'll succeed! The Last Kinmundian must reunite with his loyal friend Battlepug and stop her. But first, he has to escape from becoming Juan Diego the Wendigo's dinner! Fantasy fun and adventure from MIKE NORTON, ALLEN PASSALAQUA, and CRANK!

I’ve been obsessing over this comic for the past months, but I was never able to find the first number. There’s just something about the covers that makes me want to read it so badly. I heard some good things about the series too, although I feel like most of us don’t know it even exists. TP is coming up this week!

Here’s the solicit:

A touching graphic novel about love, loss, and how the past never truly stays dead.Seeking a refuge from an unhappy life, Brandt returns to his ancestral home in Japan to find a haunted tree and the departed souls that are drawn to it, including his grandfather. Getting more involved with the tree’s inhabitants, he attempts to heal some of history’s wounds but will he be able to find a measure of peace for himself when someone special from his past returns?
